I'm sitting here teeming with a now dissapated anger and frustration. With an overwhelmingly obsessive need to change the situations in my life.

No. I haven't been angry for the past couple of days but I've sure as hell been trying to escape shit that can't be escaped. I've been trying to evade something i haven't been able to put my finger on. Perhaps it's my imagination, but I'm better off thinking that it's worse than it is.

The situations are all different.

My work circumstance: feeling like I'm slowly falling. It feels like when you have to pee really really bad, but you're so far from the toilet, you think you're going to die before you sit down.

School: I can understand the fact that everyone at some point or another hates school or they may question their wanting to keep their major, but that eventually fades. I really have never liked my major. I've never expressed any want or need to stay in journalism. I've always wanted to be an artist..to be happy with a career that satisfies me, one that makes ends meet and often overlap. I am an artist at heart. Being in journalism sounds like something that is destined to keep me tired and stressed and unhappy, simply because that is what it does now. Besides, why should I settle? We were not made to settle. AND I probably won't be able to find a job as a journalist anyhow.

Home: I want to move. PERIOD. END OF STORY. Did I mention the fact that I have no sanctuary? This is a problem for me. All of these other issues would be easier to manage if I had a sanctuary. A place to bunker down in. A place for my soul to rest. Until I find one. It will feel like i'm being kept near a shroud or something as dramatic..

Sounds a little bit familiar doesn't it? Well, she also added that her white counterparts who look for a little bit of range on their resume, are finding it hard to get into any of the modern dance or jazz gigs or programs and are being pushed towards the ballet programs... This is Disgusting. I guess we still have a LONG ASS WAY TO GO....

Yada yada yada....So what happened to my music?

It seems that at that moment, I would have to wait until these bastards upload all of my music playlists onto MySpace music, which didn't sound good at all. So, I waited until today, only to find out that the songs that I missed most of all, were nowhere to be found on the priceless and expertly choreographed playlists I'd designed sometime early 2009. So, that means that the only song I actually cared to hear from the fragmented portions of my Imeem account was no longer available. And I know what you're thinking reader.

Maybe find it somewhere. That it really can't be all bad.

No. You're wrong.

The singular version of Serenade Melancolique by Tchikovsky that is, in fact, the most perfect version of the song I'd ever heard in my 20+ years of life, was not available on MySpace Music. IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO RESTORE THE WHOLE THING, THEN WHY TRY AT ALL???

I mean seriously!!!

Oh!!! To make matters worse...the versions of songs that they did manage to restore weren't the correct versions of the song I had in my playlist. They were shoddy generic and amateuristic versions of such songs like I'm Glad There is You by Sarah Vaughan sung by some too-sharp singing ass mediocre and vocally decadent white lady with no kind of soul at all. "Moon" by Sia had been replaced by a poorly edited remixed and sped up version of the song. Stuff like that..pisses me off. I'm heartbroken, reader. Will I ever find that same perfect, lilting, sensual, charismatic and youthful version of Serenade Melacolique? What hurts the most is that I know...deep down... I probably won't...

The Trip
I am NOT putting up all 15435678 pictures we took. Not going to happen. So, I'm putting up the top 20. Here they are...

Dunno who, but all I know is that they rolled out a red carpet for these three. It was right near the Waldorf Astoria, so I'm thinking that the building they were walking to was kind of swanky as well..

You know what this is...

Times square.

This is the sister hotel to the one we stayed in. No wonder why we didn't go stay here. The view is breathtaking and the rate per night is well....expensive.

Clinton Recording Studio. My dad, being the producer he is, wanted to be nosy as hell and get price quotes on the local studios. So this is him and a ghost-like image of one of the asistants who doubled as our tour guide.

Central Park..just a regular day for these folks. I like the simplicty of these two ordinary people.

Ok, so I was kinda mad. Why is it that I was expecting this big'ol huge cinematic entrance, and all I saw was this tiny sign. I'm like...you cant be serious. THAT'S the Apollo? That tiny ass building? Damn I was kinda disappointed because this historical building/theater wasn't much to look at on the outside.

Harlem. Right near this area was the Cotton Club.

Chinatown. I love how busy this is!

Brooklyn Bridge..yeah it's pretty.

Make sure that you take one of the double-decker tour busses if you decide go to NYC . Also, make sure you take the Grey Line tours and purchase the $108 tour package which includes four tours. Yes it's worth it. Espeially when you ge tot take a night tour of NYC and the Riverfront of Brooklyn. Breathtaking. It's a really cool experience. Yes, I was close enough to touch this streetlight. Did I touch it? Yes. Was I ever going to get the opportunity to touch a streetlight again? Never!! Had to do it. Oh, and on this ride i also touched the top of a regular city bus. Idk...i was just kind of semi-bored.

Daddy and I went to the world famous Blue Note in Greenwich Village to see Roy Ayers. One of the top 10 experiences ever!!

This takes recycling, camping, travel, and resourcefulness to a whole 'nother level. I love it!!! Created by Kevin Cyr, it is a fully functioning structural piece. If you look at the end of the bike, where the camper starts and the bike stops, it helps you to understand how it was constructed.

Maybe it was constructed with a flat plane so it can be fastened into the bottom of the structure? IDK... Look at more pictures here

Even more perfect for camping. All you have to do is walk to your local park. This makes a great gift for a homeless person (Imagine a park full of these) or a drifter.

Here is the diagram so you can see the sleeping area and the storage. It has a crank for it's collapsing capability. This was partially funded by a FEAST grant.

This will be perfect for my trip to Colorado in the distant future.

Amanda Blank's new album is the soundtrack I need for my trip.

First time I heard her music: Ahhh... now I remember. It was when she was on the Santogold V. Diplo mixtape with her cover of LL Cool J's "I Need Love". Her version was called "Love Song". I fell in love.

No, not because it was a long-time favorite song of mine she covered and actually did well on. It was because the song was transformed in her voice and the steady chant of Santogold's cyber-like-crooning "Got my mind made up...I'm a Lady". Or maybe its just because I *heart* everyone who is in M.I.A.'s entourage.

A few tracks: Might Like You Better...yes! Although very dirty and R-rated, this song is MY type of track. I think it's because all of these crazy stupid stalking-ass boys out here cause me to ignore other people's feelings sometimes. So, essentially, this track feeds my "I don't give a damn" mood. Shame On Me would get mad love in my car.

O.K. So "THE DJ" had a couple of career goals which included getting the proper training to be a bartender, learning 2 more languages, and getting a very useful Michigan cosmetology license.

See..why is it that everything I've been wanting to do, everything i've been preparing my waking hours for, everything I've been busting my ass for, is becoming so trendy for other people?

First, it was The Devil Wears Prada movie. I was really excited because I'd read the book already and couldn't wait to see the editrix that was Miranda Priestly in real life. But I was also saddened because I knew that the movie would glamorize a position I was intended to compete for. The position I am spending over $9k a year in an expensive ass school that I hate! to prepare for. WHY?!!

Then to make matters worse, all of these fucking spin-off shows, Stylista(FASHION EDITORIAL POSITION), "Blush: The Search for the Next Great Make-Up Artist"(MAKE-UP),"The Shot (PHOTOGRAPHY) and even the ever-so popular America's Next Top Model glamorize the industry I am trying to pursue.

Nothing I am doing is original. I need to figure out how I can be original, because this whole - I'm choosing opportunities that everyone is about to become or is already interested in/going to school for - is not working. I am not the typ e of person that follows. I don't follow trends. I don't follow. I lead. I create. I am unique.

Maybe I just need to find something else....

I feel like early pirates when they realized that their need to be free was being eclipsed by the closing in of the corners of the map, No longer square like people prophesized. The forbidden and unknown areas of the world being filled in on the then recent (15th-16th century) wall maps of conquistadors and world trading companies.

what am i supposed to do?

Don't think for one second that, "Oh! You will be fine." Or "Oh! There's opportunity out there!"

The Apartment came first.

I hastily secured an off-campus one bedroom apartment for a VERY affordable price. Now, I won't have to worry about those damned dorm rooms and having to worry about someone else's pubic hair on the shower floor, who used the last of the toilet paper, horrible, horrible cafeteria food my parents paid WAYYY too much food for it to be wasted and to be as disgusting as it is, and loud neighbors who always! reliably start having loud, obnoxious sex with their boyfriend/girlfriend at the same exact 3-hour interval every night and then start to fight into the wee hours of the morning.

But because I have this apartment, will I be able to take my trip to NYC? Apartments cost money. So does traveling. Damn......

WILL "The DJ" be able to go to NYC at the end of August?

OR will a monkey wrench be thrown into what could turn out to be the best thing that's happened to her all summer?

What will happen to her and the new chapter in her life a she prepares to move into her new apartment?

So D.A.M. Magazine (You know, the magazine I write for?) is throwing a fashion show in August in Times Square...Yes, that mean's this place

Le Facade, D.A.M. Magazine's fashion show, will feature designs by fashion designers, Sohung Designs and ODP Couture. Yours truly has had the pleasure of interviewing them personally. Sooooo... since I'm currently the fashion section's feature writer, It would be nice of me to come since I've never actually met the people I've been writing for these past (Nov..dec..jan...feb....) eight months.

Did You Know?.....DJ CagedBird has never been to New York.

I know! I know! Don't get your panties all in a bunch!!

No, I've never been. Although, sometimes, I think that's why I didn't get that coveted mark. College Program Internship position. I mean my interview was virtually flawless except for when I gave her the " 'Oh No She Didn't!' Forbidden Answer" to the Top Most Sacred of Fashionista Questions: Have you ever been to New York?

My answer: "Uh...well no I haven't.....b-b-but I am VERY GOOD with directions and getting around the city will most definitely not be a problem." (It wasn't exactly a lie.)

Enough of your judgemental eyes! Anyway I am going to need to grace the big apple with my presence in top form and fabulosity, which means I will need to go shopping. And no, not a regular, "I don't know what I'm looking for" shopping trip. It has to be THE SHOPPING TRIP TO TOP ALL SHOPPING TRIPS.

My dad suggested that I arrive a few days early to go shopping which is a smart idea, but I need money. Another thing is, where am I going to get this money? I live in the WORST STATE in the country. I have been trying to find a job for the past 4 years. I absolutely HATE depending on other people for money, which is why my main goal for the trip was for it to be funded entirely from my own hard earned money( Which you bet your sweet ass I was going to bust my butt for)... But it seems the heavens have something on the contrary planned for me as my tireless efforts to find a job have been trounced by constant reporting of the national unemployment rate which is currently 9.4%, and in Michigan the current rate is 12.9%. You tell me the chance that I will be able to find a job.

Don't even get me started on my search for an apartment, which comes a mighty close ass second to the job search goal.

Anyways....

I need to start thinking about what I'm going to wear to the fashion show. Recently, I've been looking through the pages of fashion magazines and fashion books to compose a set of ideal looks I want to incorporate into my wardrobe. Most of these clothes will be new. Some of them will follow trends. Others may not.

That also means I will need to find some money to buy these clothes. ::sigh:: amid frantically searching for a new apartment.

You know...

It's times like this when people tell me I'm trying to do too much. I just ignore those people. I have too much living to do in life.

I listened to my horoscope on Comcast On Demand this afternoon.

Susan Miller(Click on the name to read what I was told)told me that this upcoming week was going to be big for moving, family and real estate - which is what I was looking for.

I've been looking for one since I started packing up my things to move out of the funky ass Towers Residential Suites in May.

Lord KNOWS I wasn't going to move back into that triflin' shit they call a dorm. So I decided to look for something I've always wanted to look for.

I need a space where I can just think, create, love, cook, walk around naked in and live in. I need a sanctuary.

I needed something to motivate me, which is why I looked up my horoscope. And for once, it worked. Thank the heavens...

Why is it that when I need a job, MILLIONS of other people are looking for them too?

PLEASE DONT GET ME WRONG. I am in no way selfish, or self-centered, and I do realize there are other people in this country - but why?

Maybe I am just at the tail-end of my patience. Or could it be the fact that I am just loosing hope. Maybe It's a combination of the two. It could be something else. I DON'T FUCKING KNOW.

But I'm REALLY loosing patience. I think it's because I can't stand the fact everything is not looking BRIGHTER.

I think I am falling underneath the weight of all the things I have placed on my shoulders. I think that I am really stressed and worried. I have so few days left to do what I want.

I don't know what that is.

A friend of mine suggested that It be sex....but then theres something keeping me from doing that. I'd love to. I just have an obstacle in the way.

Then she suggested a drunken night of story telling with the girls. I truly liked that idea...so I said "Yeah..."

But then she said "But is that something you really want to do?"

I felt like she peered right into the looking-glass that was my being and saw that I knew it wouldn't do anything for me. That I would be unsatisfied. That it would be very empty fun. So I said no, I really didn't want to.

She suggested that I go out and find someone...which wasn't exactly stupid as far as ideas go.

I just knew it wasn't possible for me to find the release im looking for in a relationship.

I thought back to this conversation and came to this question:

Take these 9:22 to think: What Am I Not Doing? Sometimes it may even be the fact that there are some things that remain to be uncontrollable or even out of your hands. Perhaps you just don't even know what to do or where to start. Or could there be an alternative?

Also, you may want to consider relieving some of the stress you already have in your life that you know you don't need to survive. For instance ladies, that man you keep around for no reason or habitually buying shoes every week doesn't sound like the best thing to do, even as the nation is clenching its teeth in hopes that Obama can lead us out of this financial disease. Men, going to the bar everyday isn't helping out your family, sure you think that your're soon to be the 3% of the population that has been laid off, but in actuality, you may be the other 97% that thinks that"they're next". BREATHING IS SOMETIMES AN OPTION, but don't do it too much or you might get lightheaded. Think about all the EXCESS. You really don't need it, do you?

If that made no sense, consider meditating because the answer could be there as well.

Know what my excess was? Doing things that didn't help me or benefit me in all of the work I do to prepare it or maintain it. Yep, it was time I sat down and realized that I was doing TOO much. Coming in from a long day, tired ALL THE TIME, feet hurting, at 19, barely enough time to wash my ass? I could understand if I was working or had a child, but I'm not. It's too much. So, I decided to drop at least one thing. So I did. I'm going to drop another as soon as the semester is over. And then I need to find a job or something to help get me some experience, not hinder me. UGH!

It may not be easy to do so in your own life, but there are ways you can make things easier, better. Just trying is enough sometimes.

New Year's Eve

So, I'm sitting here doing nothing. I'm kind of pissed off because I really would like to go to a party somewhere as opposed to being at home, the place where I'm least comfortable. The person I want to go out with is nowhere to be found. The party I was supposed to go to didn't happen and nothing is looking bright right now.

Last New Year's Eve I was sitting on the couch, staring at my parents snore while the clock struck 12 a.m. DEPRESSING. VERY DEPRESSING. The house was quiet as fuck and the only thing I could hear was the quiet roar of the "Times Square Countdown with Ryan Seacrest." I looked around and started crying. YES, I WAS CRYING. Why?

Because this social life I claim is not fulfilling. There are not a lot of things that don't fulfill me right now. Yeah, just going out with people who share the same likes as me is an option but I find myself being the only person I know who is trustworthy. And that doesn't mean I'm not trying to do anything about it. UGH!! I need a car and a license, but then where would I be? Out by myself...... a young lady, out by herself at night in the big city... terrible things are bound to happen.

Please don't say "Make New Friends". That shit never works.

So, Izzie is being haunted by Denny...yeah, her dead fiancee (the one who the Free clinic is named after) Even though I really don't like her character that much, mostly because she reminds me too much of myself (ah! a revelation), I'm feeling for her. Anyone who has ever lost someone, or has broken up from a horrible relationship understands where she's coming from.

Being haunted by someone isn't fun. It's painful...

I finished watching the episode a couple of minutes ago shaking my head in disbelief and shock and pain, because Denny has been following her all around the hospital, making comments on her cases and also talking to her at inconvenient moments. NOT FUN.

But here's the part that I can't get over.

So, she realizes that she's being haunted by him and then, thanks to the advice of a patient who advises her to burn all of the things that she has that belongs to Denny, she asks Alex to burn his sweater.

Great Right? Ya know, he won't be haunting her anymore...?

NO. The audience couldn't be more wrong.

She goes into her room and he's sitting on the bed.

Throughout the episode, Denny kept telling her to touch him to make sure he was real, and she kept resisting. Why? Because he's DEAD!! And any form of him that keeps following her around is a ghost.

So he keeps telling her, "I'm here for you, Izzie... Touch me."

She finally touches him at the height of disbelief...

and her hand rests on his chest. And he embraces her.

WHAT THE HELL....

How can you explain that shit?!!!

Shonda, you are really laying it on THICK aren't you.

So my grandmother threw a fish-fry a couple of weeks ago, and I asked one of my 3000 little cousins what I should be for halloween.

THIS CONCERT WAS FUCKING EXHILARATING....

I could barely take pics and vids i was so hype!!!

First, Low V.S. Diamond came out. I liked them. They had a great sound and there were pretty cute band members. The lead singer had a nice voice. They played well.
At least the sound people didn't fuck their music up by trying to adjust the sound WHILE the concert was going on just because they weren't the main act..It's happened before...but anywho..

So I've been looking for fabulous halloween parties to attend in the downtown area and luckily, I stumbled on this...

Since my favorite word and my favorite party theme is a masquerade... I am definitely going...But what am I supposed to wear?

Little do you know, I have a secret power:

I can find virtually ANYTHING on the

internet. How?

Google of course. I can Google my ass off!!!!

Anywho, I typed in the word [masquerade] and I read a lot of things about the history of, various locations in the world that have been throwing these fancy celebrations for centuries, and pics.

Here's a smidget of what I found:

A Masquerade, a company based in Bellvue, WA that sells and rents costumes and accessories.

What was most interesting, and helpful about thier online store was the fact that their costumes were arranged, for your convenience, by era. Their costumes ranged from "classical antiquity"

( anything like fake egyptian wear, roman soldier gear, caveman wear, aztec maiden dresses, greek goddess dresses, and spartan gear so you can bring out or reenact your favorite "300" movie scenes) to '1980's"

apparel ( famous Madonna music video outfits, Prince's notorious purple outfit, and some not-so 80's outfits)

I might consider renting from this place for the masquerade, but not before I take a thorough search through all of my internet resources.

So... yeah. i need to tell some people in my life how i feel about them, but it's kinda hard to do so. I mean, i wish i could write a letter but a letter would not do my situation any justice.

So like probably a million and four other people who use the internet as much as i do

Body Mass Index Dispute

Fuck my health professor! He's an asshole! Why is he an asshole you ask? Because he said I need to lose weight because of my BMI (body mass index). Well you know what! Fuck that asshole!

I am 19 years old and weigh 215 lbs. at a height of 6'1''. Now I tried to explain to my professor that I do not need to lose any weight because I have plenty of muscle mass which makes it look like I have a high BMI. I argued with him for about 5 minutes and he made it seem like I'm a bad person for having a BMI over 25.

These body mass index things are bullshit! He talked to each person individually who had a BMI over 25. My BMI is 28.4 but I am not fat by any means. Sure I have gained some extra baggage since I started college last Fall but my body fat % is only 13. He makes it seem like I'm obese and need help losing weight. It felt like he was putting me down. I am seriously thinking about going to the Dean and telling him how much of an asshole my professor is. It sucks I have 2.5 more months of his bullshit class!!!

The only thing wrong with this is, this doesn't help me get it to the people i need to tell my problems to. but then i decided to look at the website again. i pushed the "RANDOM" button like ten times and read each one. Doing this made me feel better, because i realized i was not the only person who had problems. i was not the only person who was in pain.

No, it didn't solve my own problems but i did learn that there is always an alternative to any decision you make. There are consequences, big or small, positive or negative that should always be considered. Easier said than done, yes, i know. Just do what you feel is right. Do what "Karma" would do. If you don't know who 'Karma' is, then, think about this: who made you pay for that time you stole something out of that store or when you cheated on anything or anyone or when you lied or did wrong? You know her better than you think you do. Yes, THAT bitch...

As for this month, think about other peoples problems. Help them. Forget yourself for a moment. Make sure they are alright. Give of yourself. Then ask for help. Then look at your problems from another perspective. Don't overestimate the power of asking a stranger for advice.

This week was so stressful!!!! AAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!

This picture is an interview with a student named, Love. I interviewed her as a part of my honors project. Pro Literacy is an adult literacy program that tutors adults ags 16 +. Love was such a sweetheart. And her name is so pretty.

Well, this week also was stressful in terms of relationship problems too....its HARD deciding what you want to do when you love someone so much and you've been through so much with them and you want to break up but you cant cos you think you will die without them and its just so hard cos....

(omg...that pic us so ugly without makeup...eww but you get the idea?)

I was crying cos i was so stressed out but then i heard a joke and i never thought i would be happy again, then i was smiling and the sun was shining.

That reminds me about the scene in Under the Tuscan Sun when Lindsay Duncan as Sophia (I think) said "That's the Most important thing. You must always keep your childish enthusiasm. No matter what happens."

That's some good advice to follow.....take note

April: No Bullshit Month, My Birthday [April 9], National Poetry Month

Yep. You heard it right. I'm starting a new month-long observance.

"No Bullshit Month" is a whole month dedicated to reducing the amount of crap you put in your life, the amount of lies you keep up, and old baggage you have in your mind and psyche. Basically, it's a mental spring cleaning.

So to kick this off, I'm going to post mental exercises every week until May 1.

EXERCISE # Uno One Un

20 People Who don't know who they are.....

Ok. Grab a sheet of paper, start a blank word document, or flip to a new page in your diary.

Number the page 1-20

Think of 2o people in your life {anyone}

For each person, write down something you wish you could tell them to their face no matter what it is

Here's the catch.... you cant write down anyones name.... you can only use adjectives

Example: (im doing 5 people)

1. i really don't like sharing a room with you because you are fucking up your life and the space you occupy is kind of hazardous to my health.

2. Girl, you know i love and worship you, but i think that you, just like me and her, decided to keep our relationships despite the fact that we know they are damaging and toxic. We did it because we are still in love with them, the people who they used to be before the shit hit the fan. it's ok. We all are dealing with shit that no woman should have to put up with, yet we see something inside of each of them that deserves second chance. Bleeding Out the evil is what were telling ourselves were doing. Whether or not its true, this thing me made ourselves believe, we should not be the same women from before. We should not have to sacrifice our frame of mind, the connection between our head and our hearts. Whatever you do, imma be here, just dont close the door like you did the first time.

3. theres so much i want to say to you. Filling this space wont help me put all of my anxiety, faith, fear, and love into words.

4. there's so many things you're afraid of right now. its ok. take it one second at a time. we've been through worse. its getting better, babe.

Understand? This is interesting when a.) people find out who they are, b.) people find out who other people are yet manage to concur with what you said about them without knowing that you wrote the comment about them, and c.) if you manage to write one of these lets say, twice a year, you forget who you wrote some of the comments to.
